RAFSTER is a multidisciplinary artist based in Tangier whose practice spans illustration, character design, 2D animation, storyboarding, and mural painting.
Working across both traditional and digital mediums, he creates visual worlds shaped by a strong interest in narrative, atmosphere, and symbolic form.
His artistic path began in 2022, when an encounter with the studio practice of artist Tomek Kawiak opened a space for experimentation and the development of his own visual language. Since then, RAFSTER has built a body of work that moves fluidly between personal storytelling and public expression, from intimate drawn compositions to large-scale interventions in urban space.
Drawing inspiration from science fiction, fantasy, music, and philosophical reflection, his work navigates the space between abstraction and figuration. His characters often emerge within surreal and emotionally charged environments, where imagination becomes a way of reflecting on contemporary life. At the core of his practice is an ongoing exploration of the relationships between technology, nature, and human experience, as well as a close attention to popular culture, everyday rituals, urban animals, and Moroccan visual memory.
Alongside his personal practice, RAFSTER works as a freelance illustrator, 2D animator, storyboard artist, and concept artist. His approach remains rooted in experimentation, embracing a wide range of materials and techniques, including watercolor, oil, acrylic, markers, and digital processes.
He has participated in several artistic collaborations and cultural events in Tangier, including the Live Room Festival 2023, and has worked with institutions such as Librairie des Colonnes and the American Legation in Tangier. His collaborations with artists including Mevok, Sako, and Neval have also contributed to his presence within the city’s urban visual landscape.
Through his work, RAFSTER constructs spaces where fiction, memory, and observation intersect, offering images that are at once personal, atmospheric, and open to collective interpretation.
