Brutally Poetic is a series of four original artworks created by RAFSTER in 2023. Executed in watercolour, ink and charcoal on A5 paper, the series presents the female figure not as an object of passive contemplation, but as a charged and complex presence shaped by gesture, tension, and social meaning.

Through sparse lines, translucent washes, and deliberate chromatic accents, RAFSTER builds a visual language that embraces fragility without softening its force. The figures appear exposed yet self-possessed, vulnerable yet resistant, suspended between intimacy and confrontation. Their unfinished contours and shifting postures evoke not only movement, but also the instability of how women’s bodies are seen, interpreted, and socially framed.

At the heart of the series is a reflection on the body as a political and emotional space. These works suggest questions of visibility, agency, softness, performance, and control. Rather than offering fixed narratives, they open a field of tension where femininity is neither idealized nor reduced, but approached as layered, lived, and deeply human.

The title Brutally Poetic speaks directly to this duality. There is delicacy in the medium, but also a raw directness in the way the figures occupy space. The works hold together grace and discomfort, elegance and exposure, tenderness and social pressure. In this sense, the series can be read as an intimate meditation on womanhood, embodiment, and the silent negotiations imposed by the gaze, by expectation, and by representation itself.

Seen together, the four works form a coherent ensemble where minimal gesture becomes emotionally and socially resonant. Each piece is unique, original, signed by the artist, and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
